Great to see targets achieved!!!!
Holme Rovers
The club can now boast it has now a total of five teams competing in the Selby and District Junior Football League at under 7's, 8's, 9's, 10's and 12's which means it has achieved its target as set out in its 5 year business plan. If you have time on a Saturday morning come down and support these young players it's great to see them playing.
Stopping with the junior section I have met up with the parents of our mini soccer players and informed them that we need parents to come forward to run a new under 7's for the 2016/17 season which would require a Manager, Coach and Administrator and straight away the club has had three parents come forward to say they would carry out these duties. Taking into account that we already have twelve players on our books for this age group means that things are looking very good for the club to be running six junior teams for the 2016/17 season.
As the club grows [if we achieve our five year business plan by 2020 we will have double the number of junior teams we now have] there are many impacts on our Village and one that currently concerns myself is parking. We currently use the Hare and Hounds and the back of the Village Hall when the pitch is dry [no chance during winter months]. If anyone has any ideas such as any land available for us to use please let me know.
On the playing front with regard to our junior section the teams are having mixed fortunes but to their credit all of the players when asked say they are enjoying their football which is the most important thing.
As to the seniors the 2nd team have only played one game and lost narrowly at Withernsea. With regard to the 1st team, for a change they have made a good start to the season winning one and drawing the other game scoring six goals with a new slim line looking Matthew Wright scoring four of them from midfield.
As the club grows so does its costs and I would like to thank Scott Steels and McColls for contributing £230 towards our running costs, it is much appreciated. Again to bring money into the club we are having a Bingo
night at the Social Club at 7.30pm on Friday the 23rd October if you are able to attend it would be much appreciated.
Normally I do not mention our volunteers by name but I must thank Gemma for the time and effort she put in to organising the ''Wembley trip'' and raising the profile of the club in local papers and getting us on national television!!!
Lastly I will finish with my normal parting comment that we are looking for volunteers to help in anyway in running the club.
